Centurion: Royal Challengers Bangalore have a owner-skipper combination that knows that talent needs to be backed by intent. And the IPL side, that finished third place in this edition of the tournament, is determined to prove that they belong nowhere else but at the top of the league.
With a man like Anil Kumble at the helm of affairs, there's no denying the fact that they have a skipper who will demand more than a 100 per cent from his men. And with Vijay Mallya with the purse, there's no doubt about his ability to retain the talent that will take his side to glory.

USD 600,000 is not exactly small change and that is just the amount the Royal Challengers Bangalore have spent to retain three cracking talents - Jacques Kallis, Ross Taylor and Cameron White for the Champions League T20.
With a lineup that boasts of the likes of Rahul Dravid, Robin Uthappa, Praveen Kumar and Dale Steyn, their opening game against a Ramnaresh Sarwan-led Guyana is looking more like a cruel joke for the Caribbean team.
Apart from Sarwan, players who have represented the West Indies at the international level, middle order batsman Narsingh Deonarine and opener Travis Dowlin will be invaluable to their side because of the experience factor, but with two straight wins in their warm-up games, Bangalore will intend to hand down some cricketing lessons to the Guyanese side.

The Caribbean sides best bet is their bowlers, especially spinners Davendra Bishoo and Lenox Cush, but they will have to bowl out of their skins to trouble some of the best players of spin in world cricket.
Bangalore were hugely impressive in their practice matches against the Central Districts and the Victoria Bushrangers and will take the field with a momentum that is so crucial when opening a campaign in a T20 tournament.

In the fifth game of the Champions League T20, Bangalore will take on Guyana at Centurion. The match will be played under lights and hence, should assist the seam bowlers.
Bangalore may have seen the first game between Lions and the Mumbai Indians where the latter had gone in as favourites and yet lost. However, with the bowling line-up that Bangalore has, it is difficult to see how they will go on to not win this one against a side which does not really possess any firepower.
Bangalore will rely on their pace-spin combination to intimidate the opposition, but will understand that it is the batsmen who will have to do the job on these tracks. Thankfully, they do have a batting which has the wherewithal to succeed on these tracks. The likes of Cameron White, Jacques Kallis and Ross Taylor have all batted on such tracks in their respective countries and that is where the Bangalore team will benefit. One of the hot favourites at the Champions League T20, the Royal Challengers of Bangalore meet one of the tournaments dark horses in Caribbean outfit Guyana, as the two teams compete in their first game of the tournament at Centurion on Sunday. While Anil Kumble's Bangalore side has been touted to be one of the favourites to win the trophy thanks to their all-round strength and the presence of South African players in their squad, Ramnaresh Sarwan's Guyana are rank outsiders having surprised one and all by having qualified for this elite event.
The 20-over game is an ultimate leveler though, and to think that a result is a foregone conclusion between any two sides would be a huge mistake. A case in point being

side in the tournament opener on Friday. Apart from Sarwan, Guyana boast of an assortment of Caribbean talent and coming on the back of an inspired showing from Trinidad & Tobago in the last edition of the tournament, the men from Guyana would be desperate to go one step ahead and stake a claim for the title.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
After a disappointing first season in the IPL, Bangalore have remarkably improved as a team under Anil Kumble and their showing in the subsequent seasons have been pretty convincing. They also qualified for the first edition of the Champions League and although their participation was short-lived, the experience of having faced foreign sides would come in handy.
Though all three participating IPL sides look equally strong, Bangalore has a unique advantage with the likes of superstar local talent in Jacques Kallis and Dale Steyn playing for them. This coupled with the fact that Coach Ray Jennings is also a South African, should mean that the squad won't have to struggle much in their quest to understand alien conditions.
Bangalore probably have one of the best batting line-ups in the IPL, which happens to be a mix of hard-hitting players, and veterans who can hold the innings together and launch themselves on the opposition when the time comes. Their bowling, led by skipper Kumble and paceman Steyn, is also perfectly balanced and will prove to be a headache for Sarwan's men.

Guyana:

Calling Guyana's Caribbean T20 campaign as adventurous would be an understatement; as a look at their semi-final and final wins will tell you that Sarwan's men have learnt a handy lesson in how to control their nerves. Not only did Guyana overcome two mightier sides in T&T and Barbados in these games; they did it with extremely close margins of 4 runs and 1 wicket respectively.
This experience is sure to come handy in a format where one close game could make the difference between qualification and exit from the tournament. Sarwan would hope that the talented opening combine of Travis Dowlin & Sewnarine Chattergoon give his team a good start against Bangalore, while the presence of Narsingh Deonarine in the middle order should be useful to carry on the good work.
Jonathan Foo, the man in charge of providing the quickfire cameos, will also be crucial to Guyana's plans as will the spin trio of Lennox Cush, Devendra Bishoo and Royston Crandon. Sarwan only has one frontline pacer in Esuan Crandon to turn to and will depend heavily on the all-rounders in the squad to come to the party on the bowling front.

Likely Playing XI's:

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Jacques Kallis, Manish Pandey, Rahul Dravid, Robin Uthappa, Ross Taylor, Virat Kohli, Cameron White, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Anil Kumble (c), Dale Steyn
Guyana: Travis Dowlin, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Ramnaresh Sarwan (c), Narsingh Deonarine, Christopher Barnwell, Royston Crandon, Jonathan Foo, Lennox Cush, Esuan Crandon, Derwin Christian, Devendra Bishoo
Guyana will have their captain Ramnaresh Sarwan to look at for the batting performances that should help them get close to the Bangalore side. Unfortunately, none of the rest of the batsmen inspire so much confidence and that could be an issue for the side. Bangalore goes into the game as favourites. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Guyana 5th Match CL T20 12 Sep Live Stream will be placed below.
They first tamed Central Districts by 22 runs after amassing 172 for the loss of just two wickets in their 20 overs. The Stags found out much to their dismay that they were competing against a team that was playing at a different level. Manish Pandey and Dravid put on 71 runs for the first wicket and Uthappa, who for some inexplicable reason is not a part of Team India's T20 set up, smashed an unbeaten 53.
Bangalore then dispelled all myths about the sub-continental teams' ability to deal with the bouncy conditions in South Africa in their next game as they went on to chase down a total of 179 against the Bushrangers. It was no mean feat on part of the Royal Challengers as the Bushrangers boasted of bowlers of the caliber of Dirk Nannes, Peter Siddle and Clint MacKay.
The Royal Challengers are definitely not in South Africa as tourists. In fact, it would not be surprising if they spoil the party for the rest of the pack. What we can tell Guyana is: you may be champions when it comes to beach cricket, but only divine intervention can save you the blushes this time around.
